Clean foundation has organized a two day capacity training on early warning and early response for some selected communities in Zamfara state.
The programme which was tagged “the village monitoring project” is supported by the United States Bureau of conflict and stabilization operation in partnership with University of California Los Angeles.
The training seems to end the cycle of violent conflict in Northern Nigeria through the empowerment of community members including women to serve as peace trained in early detection and early response to conflict.
The programme manager Clean Foundation Chigo Zirim Okoro said though all the geopolitical zones in Nigeria have their unique and peculiar security challenges, the foundation chose states like Kaduna, Plateau, Taraba and Zamfara for the pilot nitung that the aim of the idea is to enhance security network around some selected communities in the selected states.
As for Zamfara Gusau and Bungudu local governments have been selected while ten volunteers from Rijiya, Bulunku, Nahuche and Yashi were selected for the two days training.
The state lawmaker Nasir Lawal Bungudu who doubled as Chairman House Committee on Judiciary attended the event and commended the foundation for the initiative and urged the benefiting communities to remain supportive of the initiative.
