The Chairman of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) Zamfara State Chapter Comrade Mansur Mustapha Kaura has declared that, the immediate past administration of Abdulazeez Yari has left a backlog of gratuity worth over 6 billion naira.
The Chairman who made the declaration during a TV show of Thunder Blowers Online “Tiryan Tiryan” said if not for the current administration of Bello Matawalle that gives a matching order for the release of 100 million naira every month since July last year the situation of some of the retired civil servants in the state would have been disastrous.
He said the 100 million naira released monthly has assisted alot in settling many civil servants who have retired several months/years without being paid by the previous administration.
He noted that the rate at which state civil servants are retiring from service has become a source of concern noting that unless government is willing to increase the money above 100 million or provide substituted funds to settle the backlog 100% the crises of payment of retirement benefit in Zamfara may not end closely.
He commended the government of Bello Matawalle for the sustained effort in the payment of pension noting that every pensioner receives his pension as soon as month ends without any hitch.
