The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Sadiya Umar Faruk has flagged-off the distribution of food and non-food items to over (2,000) internally displaced person’s (IDP’s) across Zamfara state.
The exercise took place at one of the popular IDP Camps based at Tsunami in Gusau the capital city of Zamfara on Tuesday.
She said the exercise was part of the Presidential directives to support those displaced by the activities of armed banditry and other related disasters in the state.
According to the minister, the package issued to the beneficiaries comprises grains, groundnut and palm oil, sanitaries, bedding and clothing materials, baby wears, mosquito treated nets among others.
The Minister also flagged off free medical outreach and eye care to over one thousand persons under the Project of “Total Health” initiated by the Commission.
She said they also renovated and equipped the school library for IDPs and their host community in Tsunami area under the Project of “Educate All” also an initiative of the Commission, which aimed at providing quality education to IDPs.
