Zamfara state House of Assembly has raised concern that, some contractors handling capital development projects across the state had collected up to 30% of their contract funds and refused to mobilized to the project sites.
Chairman of the house committee on Works Yusuf Muhammad Anka who stated this in a report he submitted to the state House of Assembly explained that members of the committee were not happy with some contractors engaged by the state government hence the majority of them have absconded from the project sites.
Speaker Magarya who announced the submission of the committee reports commended members for embarking on the painstaking job.
He directed the state ministry for Works and that of Religious Affairs to compel the contractors to mobilize back to the site and pursue the government to release funds appropriately for them to continue with the execution of their projects.
The Speaker also instructed the house committees on public accounts, works and religious affairs to ensure that the recommendations passed by the house are carried out religiously.
