The kidnappers of the students and staff of college of Agriculture and Animal Science Bakura had called to demand for the release of 350 million naira ransom.
Provost of the college Malama Habibu Mainasara confirmed this to Channels TV reporter during an interview on Tuesday.
He further confirmed that a total of twenty persons were kidnapped in the Sunday incident, even as he said, one police officer and two local security operatives engaged by the college lost their lives during the encounter.
In a related development, an un verified video clip is currently circulating on the social media where a person spoke as one of those kidnapped at the College of Agriculture on Sunday appealing to the government to do something before the bandits killed them as threatened.
Governor Bello Matawalle in a press statement issued by his spokesperson Malama Yusuf Idris Gusau directed the security agencies to take every step possible to get the abductees of the college released.
The police Commissioner who spoke during an assessment visit to the college on Monday assured that his men have been deployed for rescue operation, noting that his men would get rid of the bandits within the shortest possible time.
