Association of Private School Operators have lodged a formal complaint to the office of the executive Governor of Zamfara protesting the proposed exorbitant accreditation and renewal fees prescribed by the Ministry of Education.
Chairman of the forum Samaila Hussaini Moriki who declared this to Thunder Blowers said the complaint letter is seeking for the intervention of the Governor and relevant stakeholders to call the attention of the State ministry of education to adhere strictly to the provision of consolidated revenue law 2020 in respect of payment of revenue by the private school.
It could be recalled that, the state ministry for education recently announced the revocation of the licenses of private schools and announced its new policy shift of conducting re-accreditation and re-issuance of fresh licenses to those accredited.
The Ministry proposed N300,000, N200,000 and N100,000 for those private school that wanted re-accreditation for grade (A), (B) and (C) as well as prescribed certain charges for annual dues.
But Samaila Hussaini Moriki said the forum is law-abiding and ready to operate according to the laid down rules and procedure but asked stakeholders to intervene and caution the ministry to consult the laws established by the state government.
He said the forum is in the support of the state government effort of making sure that those private schools operating below minimum standard be asked to effect the needed reforms or close down.
Other relevant stakeholders copied with the complaints letter included State House of Assembly, office of the SSG, office of the Attorney General, Office of the State Commissioner of Police, Director of SSS, Child Protection Network and NGO as well as the State Commissioner of Education and that of Science Technical and Education.
