TEN THOUSAND FARMERS FROM ZAMFARA TO BENEFIT FROM WORLD BANK AGRICULTURAL PROJECT

A passionate appeal has been made to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Alh Sani Na Nono to consider Zamfara part of the Frontline state that would benefit from the World Bank Agro-Processing, Productivity, Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) program.


State Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu made the appeal when he visited the Minister in Abuja on Friday.


Mahadi reaffirmed the commitment of the Matawalle led administration in renewing partnership with federal government agencies and indeed International Development Partners in accessing more opportunities from international agencies like World Bank.

He assured the Minister that hence forth the state government is ready to do what is necessary in making sure Zamfara people have not missed the opportunities involves in the agricultural development programs of the Federal Government.


Speaking earlier, the Minister Sani Na Nono thanked the Deputy Governor for the visit and expressed optimism that the visit will strengthen the bi-lateral relationship between Zamfara State Federal and Government.


The Minister maintained that, the advocacy visit by the state Deputy Governor speaks volumes about the seriousness of the Matawalle administration in changing the narrative of what people used to hear about Zamfara State.

He informed the Deputy Governor that the outcome of the World Bank Assessment Result has already qualified Zamfara State and that many farmers would benefit from the APPEALS project soonest.


He added that the project will support over ten thousand small and medium scale farmers on crops and animal production, processing and marketing.


He therefore urged the state government to enforce an effective monitoring mechanism down to the grassroot level as soon as the program 



The State Deputy Governor was accompanied during the visit by the State Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Aminu Sulaiman Yarkofoji.

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
