The former Chairman of Federal House of Representatives Committee on Security Aminu Sani Jaji has declared that unless states in the North West are able to coordinate their operation against the bandits by having a single command of authority the insecurity affecting the region may not end soonest.
Mr. Aminu Jaji who spoke in an exclusive interview with Thunder Blowers Online News Medium in Gusau on Saturday said, there is no way the fight against banditry and bandit activities will succeeded in the North West geopolitical zone when there are multiplicity of commands fighting the same motive.
According to him what the Governors in the North West should have done is to ensure strong coordination between all the security outfits involve in the fight against the bandits and agree with one single command of authority adding that, the strategy will help them understand the dimensions and give room for time to time evaluation of the performance of the security agencies.
“The command can be the military, the police, the SSS or even the Civil Defense but let it be one authority commanding the war with the bandits, that has been the standard other countries have adopted and minimize their internal security challenges confronting them” Jaji added.
“In a situation whereby the air force are doing something different with the land army and police are doing something different with the SSS it is usual you should not expect an end to this socio-economic crises”.
He added that all stakeholders needed to come in board and confront the security challenges facing the region as it’s a responsibility beyond government or any of it’s agents
