Zamfara State Council of Ulama has commenced a peace outreach aimed at reconciling all aggrieved political actors in Zamfara State.
Chairman of the council Malam Ahmad Ibn Umar Kanoma who stated this to the VOA Hausa service, insisted that the effort is in the best interest of the peace, development, and progress of the state.
Malam Kanoma said the council had met with the serving Governor of Zamfara Dauda Lawal and sought for his understanding on the need to broker peace from among the top political elites of the state.
He said the Governor has accepted the peace outreach and promised to do everything possible to ensure that the mission of the council members is achieved.
Malam Kanoma said similar outreach has been made to the Minister of State Defense, Senator Abdulaziz Yari as well as Sen. Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura who also promised to accept the peace efforts by these respected personalities of the state.
The Islamic cleric also assured that the initiative would be sustained until peace and reconciliation is achieved.
