Zamfara State government has distributed assorted food items as humanitarian intervention to ten selected communities in Maru local government area of the state.
The food items distributed comprises guinea corn, maize, rice, groundnut oil, sugar and salt.
The distribution of the food items was conducted by the Directorate for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
As for the phase one which took place at Jabaka town communities of Jabaka, Dukki, Kadauri, Tushe, were considered.
In the phase two the exercise was conducted at Maru town where Dangamji, Kadaddaba, Ceboji, Lugga, Birnin Fulani and main Maru town were considered.
The Director General of the Directorate Hajiya Asmau Moriki who stood in for the Governor’s Special Adviser in the Directorate Hajiya Faika M. Ahmad said, the intervention was secured from VSF foundation through the effort of the state government.
She said the Directorate will make sure that only those in need are allow to benefit from the gesture as it was part of the policy drive of Governor Matawalle of caring for needy and lessprivileged ones.
The beneficiaries also commended the effort of the state government for its tireless efforts of helping the needy and less privileged ones.
