ZAMFARA FINANCE MINISTRY ORGANISES TRAINING ON THE USE OF IPSAS

Zamfara State Ministry for Finance has organized a capacity training to its Directors of Finance and other relevant financial officers on the use of International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) aimed at broadening their understanding of the use of new financial standard accounting.


Not until the coming of the present Commissioner of Finance Rabiu Garba Gusau, there have been unending agitation among members of the Civil Society in the state on the need for the state governme to revert back to the use of International Public Sector Accounting Standards for transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.


The International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) are a set of accounting rules and guidelines issued by the IPSAS Board for use by public sector entities around the world in the preparation of financial statements. 


It focuses on improving the quality of general purpose financial reporting, leading to more informed and fiscally efficient decision-making by governments, while simultaneously increasing transparency and accountability.


Speaking during the opening ceremony of the capacity training, Zamfara State Commissioner for Finance Rabiu Garba Gusau explained that, the adoption of IPSAS Accrual and IPSAS Cash and Modified Cash reporting framework will improve the quality of financial data and enables financial alignment across government agencies.


He said the benefit of the use of IPSAS  can be captured as part of a wider finance reform, serving as a facilitator to provide high-quality financial information, which in turn, improves operational and service performance and contributes to the long-term sustainability of public finances.


One of the lead facilitators at the workshop and and state Director for Budget Alh Hamza Salihu noted that, the primary aims of the workshop which is to enhance the capacity of the state financial officers will be achieved at the end of the training noting that, though the state is left behind but with the calibre of its financial human resource it will surely catch up with its peers.


He thank the Commissioner for according the participants with the opportunity to learn the new way and assured them of the resolve to making the difference.

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
