ZAMFARA GOVERNOR SYMPATHIZES WITH VICTIMS OF FLOODING

Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has expressed sympathy with the

people of Zurmi local government over the recent flooding that affected hundred of its people.

The Governor who declivered the condolence message when people of the emirate paid him Sallah homage noted that he was shocked and devastated when he received the sad news of the flooding which caused serious economic deficit to the vitctims of the incident.

In a statement by the Director General to Zamfara Governor on Public Enlightenment Media and Communication Malam Yusuf Idris reads ” the Governor has already directed the State Directorate for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs to immediately visit the scenes of the incident and assess the level of the damage and advice the government for immediate response.

He assured that relief materials will soon be provided to all the affected communities to help cushion the effects of the disaster.

The Governor also called on the people of the state to ensure timely decongestion of all drainages and waterways as well as desist from dumping of refuse in the provided drainages.

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
