The spate of uncompleted road projects awarded by the immediate past administration  of Governor Yari in Zamfara state has continued to raise concern among stakeholders and citizens of Zamfara State considering the level of hardship citizens encountered in most part of the state especially during the rainy season.

One of such roads that give Zamfara citizens sleepless night is Tashar Abu-Kekun Waje-Bingi road in Bungudu local government area of the state.

The road according an official source was earlier awarded to Waila Global Nigeria Limited a company allegedly linked to the former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives Usman Bayero Nafada between 2012-2013 at the cost of 5.3 billion naira.

Still the official source had it that, payment of mobilization was made and very small part of the work was done at the project site especially construction of few number of culverts and laterite compacting covering very few kilometres before the project was finally abdnoned by the contractor.

The road which is estimated at (38) kilometers is now becoming a dead trap for the travellers hence the need for its urgent repair becomes highly needed.

But at a plenary session on Tuesday member representing Bungudu West Nasiru Bello Bungudu raised a motion of urgent public importance requesting the house to mandate it’s committe on works to summon the State Commissioner for Works to brief the house on the status of the ongoing and uncompleted road projects with a view to guiding the house on the next step to take.

Nasiru Bungudu in a telephone interview with thunder blowers online news medium insisted that, it was an act of neglect that, the previous administration despite awarding the contract for the reconstruction of the road it has failed to provide funds that will see to the completion of the road project.

He noted that, he will take it personal to make sure that the road has been reconstructed for the benefit of his people noting that it will unfair to allow those sensitive economic areas where the road connect to continue suffering.

The house at the plenary mandated the appropriate committee to invite the state Ministry for works and transport to come explain the status of the abandoned and ongoing road projects as well as explain to the house the road map for the completion of all the roads.
