The four family members of Zamfara State former Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs Alh Bello Dankande Gamji including the operative of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp earlier kidnapped in his Bakura home town have been released by their abductors after alleged payment of ransom.
A source close to the family told this medium that, the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000) has been paid to the abductors as ransom before the abductors agreed to release the victims on Sunday evening.
Earlier report by Tribune News Paper has it that, the abductors have demanded for the payment of seventy million (N70,000,000) naira by the former Commissioner as ransom.
He said the abductees have since being re-united with their families and hundreds of sympathizers have been trooping enmass to congratulate the politician over the release of his family members.
It could be recalled that, few days back some suspected abductors invaded the country home of the former Commissioner in Bakura and whisked away four of his family members including an operative of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp in an operation that led to the death of one person and two people hospitalized as a result of the injury they sustained.
Effort to reach the Police Command Command Public Relations Officer of Zamfara SP Shehu Muhammad to speak on the alkeged payment of ransom failed as he neither pick nor returned his several missed calls.
