Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has decried wrong attitude of politicians and political office holders to our traditional institutions in the Country.
Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has expressed his worry on the manner at which politicians and political office holders are demonstrating behaviours that ridicule the status of traditional institutions in the country.
In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment Media and Communication Mal. Zailani Bappa reads “the government express this concern when he received the Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero who paid him a courtesy call in his office today.
Governor Matawalle observed that politicians, especially political office holders on several occasions demonstrated high degree of disrespect to the traditional institution which he said, for long contributed to the downgrading status of these very respected institutions
“as politicians and political office holders, we must realise that the traditional institution is the permanent leadership structure in our society. It is our original heritage which we must preserve and respect”, Matawalle posited out.
“We must realise that after our tenure in office, most of us are still coming back to the Palace under the Emirs once again. So, if we allow the institution to wallow in disrespect, how can we ever get respect after our tenure has ended”? Governor Matawalle chided.
He therefore, called on all politicians and political office holders to realise that the safety of every society defend largely on how much it accorded respect for the traditional institutions noting that, the responsibility of realising a cohesive and obedient followership is easily achieved through a strong and firm traditional institution.
