National leadership of Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association has alleged that, some members of community vigilante along Zuru Emirate in Kebbi state had extra judiciously killed 68 members of Fulani groups including women and children.
In an interview with the BBC Hausa service which was monitored by this medium, the National Secretary of the Association Baba Usman Ngalzarma noted that among those killed include one year old child and several women as the community vigilant groups went to various Fulani settlements within the Zuru emirate search for their members and extra judiciously killed them.
He noted that, the 68 members were killed between April to August 2020 and that the association is yet to establish reasons responsible for the massacre of their members by the people of Zuru Emirate.
“Since the crises between Fulani herdsmen and people of Zuru emirate started on 29th of April 2020 our members have been facing serious security threat Baba Usman added”.
On the allegation that, their members have been allegedly involved in terrorising the people of the area, the National Secretary noted that, even Fulani people have been victims of the ongoing banditry especially that, many of them have loss hundreds of their bulls of cattle to rustlers, and many of their members were kidnapped and ransom was paid.
On the steps taken to address their problem Baba Usman said, they have informed the government of Kebbi State and indeed Kebbi state Commissioner of Police on the development and hope appropriate action will be taken before the situation gets out of hand.
Kebbi State Deputy Governor Alh Samaila Dabai said, government is aware of the development and measures are being put in place to get the urgly situation arrested.
He said by Tuesday Stakeholders meeting will be held in Birnin Kebbi to discuss on the causes of the crises and agreed on appropriate measures to be instituted as a way of addressing the problem.
