The Chairman of Zamfara Medical Association (NMA) Dr. Mannir Bature Chafe has declared that, 24 years after its creation, Zamfara State is unable to produce up to (10) medical consultants that are indigents of the state.
The Chairman who was speaking during a one day “Talk Show” organized by Carrier and Literacy Consult a non-governmental organization said unless stakeholders have come back to their senses and do what is necessary the health sector of the state will surely crash.
He said out of over ten thousand community health workers needed in state primary health care centers, Zamfara has just over three thousand living in the facilities with a human resource gap of over seven thousand to be recruited.
He also explained that, the national requirements provided that there should be some medical doctors who are supposed to be deployed to work in some primary health care facilities in the state but regrettably, none of the Primary Health Care Facilities in Zamfara has a medical doctor.
Furthermore, he also pointed that none of the primary health care facility has to meet up with the requirements of basic minimum service package.
