Zamfara State Police Command has refuted a story trending on the social media that it has banned the recently trained Special Constabulary from wearing uniform and performing other police duties.
According to the statement by the State Police Command Public Relations Officer SP Shehu Muhammad said, the Story was completely misleading and capable of demoralizing the morale of the young and vibrant members of Special Constabulary from working towards the restoration of a lasting peace in the state.
Shehu Muhammad said, the Police Commissioner Mr. Abutu Yaro in his interactive session with the Special Constabulary at Area Commands and Divisions across the State only banned them from bearing firearms and wearing regular police uniform as well as performing duties outside their communities.
Shehu therefore urged the public to disregard the online story as it was not a true reflection of the reality on the ground.
