Zamfara state government has reaffirmed it’s committment of supporting state indigenes who are interested in studying at the Islamic University of Medina.
The State Acting Governor Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Muhammed made the pledge while receiving a delegation of the old boys of Islamic University of Medina who paid him an advocacy visit in his office.
The Acting Governor said education sector is one of the priority areas of the present administration noting that the administration is always willing to championing an educated society.
He noted that, as at the time their government was inaugurated, tertiary system of education was in comatoes with high number of youths unable to access it couple with the dilapidated structures found in most of the tertiary institutions in the state.
But he noted that effort is being intensified by their government to change the old story with a view to making higher level of education a proud in Zamfara state.
The Acting Governor also expressed satisfaction with the extra efforts being made by the Old Boys of Islamic University of Medina in guiding the new generation that are willing to join through facilitation of admission into not only University of Medina but Saudi based Universities.
He assured the visiting delegation that he will brief the Governor on their mission and also directed the State Commissioner for Religious Affairs to keep in touch with the delegation for regular update.
Earlier, the leaderof the delegation Malam Auwal Khakis informed the Acting Governor of their old aged initiative of organizing annual Daura which was initially co-sponsored by both the Saudi and Zamfara State governments which he said the initative has helped in portraying the islamic reputation of Zamfara internationally.
He said impressively, for some years now, Zamfara state government has been single handedly sponsoring the activity including sponsoring of successful students to the holy land.
Mallam Auwal reminded the Acting Governor of the good part of their activities where he said Zamfara state has successfully produced about six PhD holders, many Masters and first Degree holders through same engagement.
He therefore used the opportunity to appeal to the Acting Governor to grace this year’s clossing of the Islamic Daura as part of moral boost to the younger ones.
