Residents of Faru community in Maradun local government area of Zamfara state have cried for help over what they described as disastrous condition of their only primary health care center which is about to be washed away by the deverstating water flooding that hit the location of the health facility.
One of the residents of the area Abdullahi Faru who was interviewed by Thunder Blowers expressed regret that, for the past six years whenever it is raining patients and other health care seakers have to stay away from the facility due to excessive flood that flows deep inside the admission wards.
He said as at now flood have taken over the health center and that, the only two patients on admission have to be discharged outrightly hence flood cannot allow free movement of both the patients, his or her relations as well as the health workers attached to the health facility.
He hinted that, during rainy season, patients usually resort to going for a commercial health facility owned by an Igbo man in the area hence even the alternate commercial health care center is not in good shape habitable for human admission.
He called on the government of Zamfara State to come to their aids and address this old aged problem as it constitute a threat to the healthy living condition of the people of Faru area.
As at now the 34 bed capacity health facility has a total number of 24 staff on state/local government payrol whose access to their only working place is threatened by the flood.
Attempt to speak to the State Commissioner for Health Yahaya Abubakar Kanoma failed hence he has not returned his miss calls and the Chairman Hospital Service Management Board Mustapha Anka could not also be reached as his phone has been switched off.
