Zanfara state chapter of High Level Women Advocates (HILWA) has appealled to Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle to facilitate the passage of the bill seeking for 30% inclusion of women in education decision making with a view to promoting women enrolment in formal education system
The appeal was made by the Chairperson of the Organization Hajiya Maryam Na’inna when she led other members of the HILWA on a courtesy visit to Governor Bello Matawalle at the State Government House Gusau.
Na’Inna said, they were at the Government House to declare their support to the present administration’s efforts of transforming the state education sector especially the model initiatives on girl child component of education introduced by Governor Bello Matawalle.
In a statement by the Governor’s Director General Public Enlightenment Media and Communication Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau reads that the Na’inna says, her organization is impressed with the level of increased girl child enrolment in to public schools system as that has enhance their chances of having access to quality education.
Maryam Na’Inna however informed the governor that her organisation in collaboration with UNICEF and Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board has successfully trained over 20,000 mothers on basic skills of campaign for increase girl child enrollment and better access.
In his response, Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle declared that, his administration will continue strengthen partnership with development partners who are interested in promoting girl-child education in the state.
The Governor further affirmed that Girl-Child Education remains the priority of his administration and assured them of his resolve to continue to prioritize it at all cost.
He said his administration has considered educating Girl-Child as uncompromising project which his he will continue to prioritize at all cost.
He reiterated that his government will continue to engage non governmental organizations who are working on the area of education in order to give out their best for the revival of girl child education in the state.
The Governor then donated an 18-seater bus to the organisation and urged the members to continue with their mentorship of girls and women and guide to the prosperous choice of future carrier.
